Born in Chicago, Illinois Ashley S. Stokes is an artistic visionary whose vision is to shine a light on the intricacies in Mental Health within the black community. Whether it may in her books Lost in Child Welfare, Finally Free or self-help My Experience Journal. Ashley is committed to shining a light on the stories that are too often placed in our country’s shadow. With her events Sip and Speak Social, The Meet Up and film inspired Wellness halls, Ashley understands the power of storytelling and inspiration. Ashley has said in previous interviews, “I was silenced before, but I’m not silent anymore. This is my story, and I plan to tell how it happened.” Overtime, Ashley has documented this process and has become a keynote to share exactly what has happened in her view. Ashley has created a safe space; Sip&Speak Social is a healing space for black and brown women that encourages women to live beyond trauma and circumstances. Sip&Speak Social allows women to come together in a safe space to process, reflect, learn and apply while being encouraged to care for self unapologetically. Ashley's mission is to change the trajectory of black and brown families through the healing of black and brown women. Ashley is intentional in conversations, activities and events with the goal to inspire, encourage and create community for Wellness.
